1. In Maryland companies that perform deck sealing and staining are required to have a home improvement license. (MHIC#)

2. Make sure the company is bonded and insured.

3. Make sure the company has experiance and they can list references.

4. Make sure they have some type of wood restoration training like the PWNA wood certification.

5. Make sure they are members of the Better Business Bureau.

6. Make sure they use less than 1,500 PSI and they do not use chlorine bleach on your deck.
